Independence Day is celebrated nationwide on July 4. But in Waynesboro, patriotic community members look forward to July 3 with just as much excitement.

On July 3, Waynesboro celebrated its annual Fourth of July in the Park, a family-friendly festival and concert that has become the town’s official Independence Day kickoff. More than 4,000 people attended, making this year’s event the biggest and most successful to date. Wayne Halfway House Inc., C&B Linen and Guesswork IT Solutions sponsor the beloved annual festival.

Rising country star and former “The Voice” finalist Emily Ann Roberts headlined the evening, performing for a crowd of thousands of enraptured fans. Local favorites Danny Davis and Ben Daniel (both of whom work or have worked for WHH), opened the show. Before the concert, festivalgoers spent the afternoon enjoying carnival games, contests, face painting, bounce houses and other kids’ activities, and more.

“It’s an honor and a true joy to sponsor Fourth of July in the Park,” said Jason Crews, President and CEO of Wayne Halfway House Inc. “It’s important to us to keep this event free and open to the entire community, showing off our downtown and spotlighting the local businesses that make Waynesboro such a special place to live and work.”

Wayne Halfway House Inc. has recently completed a three-year renovation and restoration project to six historic buildings on the downtown Public Square, underscoring its commitment to supporting and elevating Waynesboro. The company also sponsors other community events throughout the year, including the annual Christmas tree lighting.
