Sometimes, making a difference in a young person's life begins with simply showing up- and continuing to show up. It may look like an afternoon shooting basketball, going out for lunch, playing a game or simply taking the time to listen.

At Hollis Academy and Wayne Youth Academy, Community Outreach Coordinator, Tim Ray, meets weekly with youth throughout a voluntary mentorship program focused on encouragement, positive choices and personal growth.

Their time together may include one-on-one conversations, activities, Bible study and prayer, giving youth another source of support as they work toward their goals and continue on their path to rehabilitation.

This year, five young men from Hollis Academy and Wayne Youth Academy have celebrated baptisms- one in March, three in June and another in September. Duck River Youth Center offers a similar mentorship opportunity and celebrated three youth baptisms in June.

"It is an honor and privilege to work with these young men as they take this important step in their personal faith journeys and continue on the path to rehabilitation and better, more purposeful lives." said Ray.

These milestones are just one part of each young person's story. Every day brings opportunities to grow, overcome challenges, and build toward a more positive future. Whether it is reaching an important personal milestone or simply having someone there to listen and encourage them, these moments matter.

Sometimes, lasting change begins with something as simple as caring, making time and showing up again tomorrow.
