Wayne Halfway House Inc. has opened the new Michael Gymnasium, a new auxiliary gymnasium facility serving young people housed at Hollis Academy and Wayne Youth Academy.
The 14,885-square-foot facility, which opened this summer, is dedicated in honor of Facility Maintenance Supervisor Michael Rumbaugh, a devoted staffer at Wayne Halfway House for more than 22 years who is beloved by residents and fellow staff. The new gymnasium includes four classrooms, a large indoor recreational area, a library and a vocational training center, as well as offices for teachers, case managers and therapists.
“This facility is so much more than just a gym,” said Wayne Halfway House Inc. president and CEO Jason Crews. “By adding classrooms, offices, and flexible recreational and learning areas, this is a space that will foster education, growth and opportunities for our young people for many years to come.”
Added Crews, “Michael Rumbaugh has been a valued member of the Wayne Halfway House family for decades, and he has changed the lives of countless youth residents for the better. It is a privilege to dedicate this transformational space in his honor, to help many more young people work toward brighter futures.”
